People to feature The Most Dangerous Animal of All
People magazine will feature an article about Gary L. Stewart and The Most Dangerous Animal of All in its June 2 edition, which is scheduled to be on newsstands May 22. Johnny Dodd, the writer of the article, is best known for co-authoring Inside the Mind of BTK with John Douglas, a former FBI criminal profiler and the author of numerous books about law enforcement.
“I’m thrilled that People magazine wanted to share this story,” Stewart said. “I’ve been trying to get the truth about my father to law enforcement for so many years in the hope that an investigation would be conducted, and the fact that Johnny Dodd took this seriously and did a tremendous amount of research to write this article means a lot to me.”
HarperCollins gave People magazine the exclusive to write a behind-the-scenes feature about Stewart, and Dodd spent a day with Stewart looking over his evidence and interviewing him. Michael N. Waskshull, the forensic document examiner who compared the Zodiac’s handwriting to that of Earl Van Best Jr., also spoke with Dodd.
“I’m excited that an author with knowledge of serial killers is writing this story,” the book’s co-author, Susan Mustafa, said. “It will be interesting to see what angle he takes.”
The online version will be available at www.people.com.
